Anisha Susanna George, age 58, daughter of the late George Verghese & Sosamma George, passed away on Wednesday, 9 August, 2023. Anisha (Susanna) grew up in Old Town, Petaling Jaya and was a loyal Assuntarian. She studied at Hampshire College in Amherst, and completed a Masters in Organization Development and Leadership from Fielding Graduate University.
For over 30 years, Anisha was committed to feminist movement building and social justice work. She was an organizational development consultant, facilitator, and feminist leader who worked with APDC, UNDP, AWAM, Io International (Isis) among many others. She was a committed advocate for people in need and had a tremendous impact on many marginalized societies all over the world.
Anisha had a wide open heart and a brilliant mind. She lived life to the fullest, drank each glass to the dregs, and made deep connections with countless people from all walks of life —this, her legacy. So many relished her love for life and her masterful storytelling. Her beautiful laugh and giant smile lit up every room. She loved travelling, nature, and was a passionate foodie. As an avid birder, she co-founded the illustrious Violet Cuckoo Feminist Birding Club.
She was a fiercely loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Anisha leaves behind her sisters Sarah (Omana) Mathew & Mathew, Anne S. George; nephews - Jacob & Colleen, Sandosh & Shivika, and Anand; nieces - Tessa & Ed, Sosha & Andrew, Mariam & Alex; grand nieces and nephew - Eleanor, Josephine, & Aaron; her kapatid Mabelyn Baltazar, her darlings Koko & Hana, and her worldwide circle of friends whom she cherished as family. (She also leaves behind a 1000-day Duolingo streak!). She belonged to the loving community at the Orthodox Syrian Cathedral of St. Mary the Theotokos in KL, where the funeral will be held.
