Spiritual Life After Physical Death

“Most Hindus believe that although the dead are physically buried or

cremated, their spirits or souls continue ... in existence ....

Therefore ... Hindus conduct prayers ... for the deceased

to rest in peace.” T.S. Ramasamy (unpublished article, April 2017)

Prayer for Departed Souls: Its Purpose and Perquisites

“When a person meditates on God, for the sake of the peace of the departed soul, it is said that it will be enabled even to attain moksha [eternal blissful consciousness in the timeless Supreme Abode of God].” Swami Krishnananda, 1952

T.S. Ramasamy, 91, former police officer and English teacher, passed away peacefully and gently into the good night of

Tuesday, 14 March 2023.

It was the 7th day in the ‘dark’ 14-day period of the waning moon, yet during the ‘bright’ 6-month period when the sun travelled in the north (after the winter solstice).

T.S. Ramasamy was predeceased by his late wife, Jothi R R Ponnusamy, and late daughter, Suganthi. He leaves behind eldest daughter: Shanti, son: Chandran, daughter-in-law: Premalatha Nagalingam, youngest daughter: Shirmila, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

The family is grateful to the many relatives, friends, neighbours, doctors and caregivers for their love and support.

Funeral prayers were held on 16 March 2023, followed by cremation.
