BG Ron Mahendran, aged 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday 8th July 2023 at his home in Ampang Jaya, Selangor. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Joanne Prescott, his daughter Sara (husband Mark Jensen, children Matthew and Christina) of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA and son Jonathan Mahendran (wife Janine, children Jalen and Jaeliana) of Parker, Colorado, USA.

Mahendran, after graduating from the Royal Military College, served with the Malaysian Armed Forces from 1958: First with the Armoured Corps, then later with Royal Ranger Regiment (RRD) until retirement on 1 July,1993 as Commander of RASCOM (Rajang Security Command), Sibu, Sarawak. Ron served as a UN Peacekeeper in the Congo (1958 to 1959), then saw action in both Malaysian Emergencies as well as Confrontation. In retirement, being an avid golfer, he served on the Committee of the Royal Selangor Golf Club, headed the PGA, then the PGM Tour until his second retirement in 2018.
