in loving memory of
“The death of heroes is like a sunset.” – Karl Marx
Our beloved Darshan Singh Khaira has peacefully returned home on 26 august 2021.
Darshan was a proud Penang boy who once swam from Tanjung Bungah to Butterworth,
and scaled Mount Kinabalu. A brilliant and unconventional mind, Darshan was a great lover of books, poetry and music; a taichi enthusiast and an (obsessive) student of Mandarin.
He will be remembered for his tenacity, outrageous humour and colourful repartees.
He lived a full life on his terms and never shied away from defying authority – confounding people along the way.
Most importantly, he was a doting son, and a brother to Naranjan Kaur (Nanjo), Sarjit Kaur (Jit), the late Naranjan Singh, the late Harbans Kaur (Bansi), Nermal Singh, Gurbachan Kaur (Gano), Saran Singh, Gurunam Singh; and a dear husband to Lucia
and a darling Papa and best friend to their children – Damina (Nina), Kris, Kim and Liani.
“A Farewell Ode”
Today we say goodbye to a
friend. Who has gone to a better place
Eternal rest, peace, happiness and repose
Tomorrow when it’s my turn
I will with great happiness
Jump the abyss
Into the arms of my
Great friend.
