With a deep sense of sorrow and grief, the Catholic Church in Malaysia announces the passing of His Eminence Anthony Soter Cardinal Fernandez, Archbishop Emiretus of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, who was called to the Lord on Wednesday 28 October 2020.
The Catholic community in Malaysia not only mourns His Eminence a devoted pastor, caring shepherd and affable bishop, but is deeply grateful to God for the gift of Cardinal Fernandez for the distinguished contributions in various fields and leadership during his tenure as the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur. Above all, he will also be remembered as Malaysia's first Cardinal.
