For My Father

You taught me love isn't a big gesture -

it's a hand on a shoulder, an encouraging word,

a glass of wine poured slow, unhurried,

a room that felt warmer when you walked in.

You gave your care away all day, to your patients,

then came home and gave the rest to us,

never keeping score, never asking anything back -

just presence, warmth and security, just you, being there.

Three years on, I find you in the small things:

in patience, in kindness, in the way I try to love now,

the way you showed me how.

Dearly missed by Adrian, Thomas, William, Suan and our numerous relatives and friends.
