Paramagurunathan Vallipuram affectionately called VP Nathan lived a full life. He dedicated his life to serve not only his family but all who came to him.  He was a well-respected man in the community.

VP Nathan was known to be a very jovial person who always looked upon life and met any challenges head-on and persevered to find solutions where others would have struggled. VP Nathan was a good loving husband to the late Rathi Devi Kanagaratnam and loving father to his son Dharmendra and daughter Sharmini. Being a very family-oriented person, he showed his love to his grandchildren, in laws, siblings, nephews, nieces and relatives. He always made time for everyone and showed the importance of family.

VP Nathan started his career at the Malaysian Government Printers.  Due to his hard work, he was awarded a scholarship to pursue his studies in New Zealand.  He qualified with excellent results and on his return; he became a training instructor in the printing division of National Industrial Training Institute (ITI).  Due to his dedication and ability, he was promoted as a senior lecturer at ITI.  His passion was to help and train young aspiring students to reach their potential. He was well liked and respected by all his peers and students. He often said he was very proud to see his students become well established in their careers.

His tenure at ITI was long and he loved every moment of it which included overseas assignments and training in Italy and Japan. His continuous achievements were recognised and he was subsequently appointed as Deputy Director of ITI.

On retirement, he was called upon to continue providing the training in many places including private industrial training institutes. Later, he was invited to conduct courses at the Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST). Here he was training the trainers.

He was a good host as he was an excellent cook and loved to entertain his family and friends. He was a member of the PJ club where he loved to play billiard. Another passion of his was travelling and this has taken him to many countries. This travel gave him opportunities to visit his relatives around the world. VP Nathan had an interest for art as well as music. He created beautiful copper toolings, played guitar, piano and harmonica.

We mourn the loss of a lively, dignified soul. A soul that brought joy and fulfilment to many, and whose legacy will live on forever. VP Nathan will be fondly missed.
