He Lives In Us
Twelve years on, but your presence in our lives remain strong,
You’re always in our mind, and in our hearts because
it’s where you belong.
We have done a lot of growing since the day you left this place,
All we hope is we’ve done you proud and put a smile on your face.
There are days that go by where we think ‘I wish Ah Kong were here’,
And this thought is always accompanied by the shedding of a tear.
We want to thank you for being the best Grandpa you could be,
You are our confidant, our hero, and always the head of our family.
What makes a hero? We have often thought this through.
Is it someone who saves the world? Is it someone who is true?
To us, a hero is just a simple man whose strong shoulders
eased our tears,
He puts you on his lap and embraces you, driving away all your fears.
You lit up our world and put so much love in our hearts,
You’ve taught us so much about the value of family,
And now nothing can keep us apart.
Our Grandpa had no need for medals to show his intentions were true,
That is why dear Ah Kong, the hero of our family is definitely you.
