Sweetness of childhood, basking in innocence,
Playing with children, hoping dusk will not come,
Brief was this joy, carried by the hurried wind,
Being a wife and mother, overwhelmed your mind.
Responsibilities descended upon you, fit not your age,
Embraced you this, with poise and grace,
Discipline you instilled, sacrifices you endured,
Cuddled us safe and warm, when the cold wind blows.
Oh divine who brought us into this world,
Your mission accomplished, you moved on fulfilled,
We bade farewell, with prayers and roses,
Yet the fragrance of your presence, dances all around us.
On this stage of life, played you well Mum,
All the roles set for you, a lifetime around,
Now you take rest, you deserve it most Mum,
May you resume your play, in God’s own playground.
Amma, you were the centre of our lives that bonded us with unconditional love. We will celebrate the life you lived and cherish all you gave us.
