The Malaysian Medical Association mourns the passing of our esteemed Past President, Dato’ Dr Ronald Stephen McCoy, a distinguished obstetrician and gynaecologist, respected medical leader and lifelong advocate for peace and nuclear disarmament.

Dato’ Dr McCoy conceived the idea for the International Campaign to Abolish

Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), the global movement which was awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts towards the prohibition and elimination of nuclear weapons.

His remarkable contributions to the medical profession, the Malaysian Medical Association, humanity and the pursuit of a safer world will always be remembered.
